Nin is a small town located 15 km northwest from Zadar. The center of the town is an islet of a 500 meter diameter, connected to land with two bridges. Besides cultural heritage, especially the Church of the Holy Cross from 9th century and the Church of Saint Nicholas, Nin attracts tourists with its beautiful sand beaches, untouched nature and natural healing mud. The beaches in Nin
The sea is shallow and warm, which is especially suited for families with children, but you should know that windy days are not an exception. Next to the beach there is a healing mud which has positive effect on people with health problems, while from the sports content kite surfing is the most popular. In the nearby place Sabunike, there are also sand beaches, while the climate is perfect for water sports such as surfing and sailing. There is a long gravel and sand beach in Zaton which was awarded by a Blue Flag, and is surrounded by parks for children, pools, slides and other dining establishments, while one-time ticket for walkers costs $4.
The Church of the Holy Cross
Each side of the church has an oval opening, and it is interesting that the church was build according to the position of the sun throughout the whole year, so it can serve as type of solar calendar. The lintel is decorated with platter ornaments while on its bottom side there is a name of the prefect Godecaj. According to the local tradition, during the reign of Croatian rulers it was a coronation church. After the coronation the king would go to the nearby Church of Saint Nicholas where he would introduce itself to the people. In the vicinity of the Church of the Holy Cross there are excavated around 170 Old Croatian graves which date from 8th to 15th century, with their remains that can still be seen today.
